BEER CAN STUFF AND OTHER STUFF

What a beautiful evening it was.  There was a good crowd out everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.  Bob Muller and I set a course that we thought would take an hour to finish.  How foolish we were.  I would like to say 'WOW" to Rob Hines new boat.  He had Caleb Cannon and Gary Rogers with him and that boat is fast.  When the results were tabulated and corrected, our old friend HINES BOSTWICK came in first.  He asked me a couple of days ago who had won and I told him someone else.  I didn't want him to gloat all week.  Hines finished a race and won it.  See what happens when you stay out there Hines?  He was followed by Linda and Rusty Smith, Bob and Cindy Caughran, Matt Jordan, John Herlihy, Rob Hines, Bob Weaver and Joe Gibbs.  It was great to see eight boats out on a Wednesday night.  Let's see if we can't have at least 10 this week.  Jamie said that many people have come up and congratulated him on his wedding.  I guess I am going to have to come clean.  Since taking over the beer can in 2006 my main goal was to get those two lovebirds married.  It is still my goal and it will happen under my watch.  They are such a loving couple.  They never argue or get cross with one another.  A relationship made in heaven.  I will keep you posted.  He and Merideth will be officiating the race this week.  Come on down and give them your support.

There have been many e-mails about the Dragon Boat races this weekend.  Karen Davis and Gail Evans and others have put alot of work and effort into this event so we need to come out and show our appreciation.  I am not sure if they need any more rowers but contact Karen and she can fill you in.  If you have not been to either of the last two you have missed Chuck Buffington's great cookout.  I am sure there will be no alcoholic beverages there but you can still have a good time.
